Tuesday, Feb. 17, to protest a proposal to double the
rice assessment. The farmers came from all over the
state’s rice growing areas to express strong
opposition to SB 349, a recent legislative proposal
to increase producers’ assessments on rice.

The Arkansas Rice Federation Opposes Increase to Farmers’ Checkoff Assessment

Arkansas Rice Federation voiced strong opposition to
SB 349 introduced Wednesday in the Arkansas Senate.
The proposed legislation would double producers’
assessment on rice from 1.35 cents to 2.7 cents per
